CYSHCN Nutrition Network
The CYSHCN Nutrition Network is a group of registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs) throughout Washington State who provide nutrition services for children and youth with special health care needs. Currently over 200 RDNs in Washington belong to the Network. They represent a variety of employment settings, including local health departments, community clinics, hospitals, early intervention centers and home health agencies. Most of the RDNs are certified by the State of Washington to provide nutrition services. Many use nutritionist as their job title and use the letters RDN and CD after their names to indicated that they are registered dietitian nutritionists (RDN) and certified dietitians (CD). The CYSHCN Nutrition Network members attend yearly continuing education sessions regarding nutrition issues for children and youth with special needs.
CYSHCN Nutrition Network members also assist with data collection regarding nutrition services for children and youth with special health care needs in Washington State (such as Cost Considerations: The Benefits of Nutrition Services for a Case Series of Children with Special Health Care Needs in Washington State). Others have written nutrition information for publications such as Nutrition Interventions for Children with Special Health Care Needs.
